Mukundra hills Tiger Reserve on April 9, 2013, was announced by Mukundra Hills national park or Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located on Kota-Jhalawar road, 50 km far from the Kota region of Rajasthan state.

Mukundra Hills extend in about 760 sq kilometers of four locality Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi, and Chittorgarh. Nearby 417 sq km of core and 342 sq kilometers buffer zone.

It takes in few sections of the Mukundra Hills National Park, the reserve retreat, the Jawahar Sagar, and the Chambal Burke Wildlife retreat.

Notice issued on January 9, 2012, for allowing the status of National Park to Mukundra Hills. Jawahar Sagar Sanctuary, Chambal Ghandial Sanjaryan, the section of the Pass sanctuary (about 199.51km² area), is declared the formation of the place’s third national park.

• On April 11, 2013, the notice was issued by the Rajasthan Government to establish a new Tiger Reserve area (Ranthambore national park and a third of the state after Sariska national park), known as Mukundra Hills in the state.

• This new tiger sanctuary, extend over a district of around 759 sq km, has two parts, 417 square kilometers. The main tiger natural environment (core tiger home) district and 342 sq km of buffer zone have been notified.

• Mukundra-Hills district attached to Ranthambore National Park is usually located in the Hadoti district of Sawai Madhopur area, but this district is extended to Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi, and Chittorgarh areas.
